Owner's Observations and InformationTrilogy is a Bill Shaw designed sailboat that is well suited for sailing the waters along the Florida coastline, and she has also carried previous owners on extended cruises to the Bahamas.Ã? Her hull with its eleven foot beam and keel/centerboard design provides stability and pointing characteristics to satisfy a seasoned sailing enthusiast, yet Trilogy can be sailed successfully and enjoyed by persons with less experience or those who are new to sailboat handling.Ã? Basic instruments include a Garmin 541S chart plotter, a bulkhead mounted wind instrument, and a depth sounder.Ã? A Yanmar 2GM20F diesel engine powers a three blade prop and moves Trilogy at hull speed while smoothly turning 2500 to 2800 rpm.Ã? Her hull has been protected with Sea Hawk blue bottom paint in December 2021 prior to her most recent 7 week cruising adventure.Ã? Trilogy's cockpit is sizable and well suited for comfortable sailing or relaxed seating using the cockpit cushions when the Teak table is set for snacks or a meal.Ã? A large, deep sail locker extends under the port side cockpit seat.Ã? Her Bimini and additional sun shade will provide protection from the sun when necessary.Ã?Â
Ã?Â
Under full sail Trilogy's masthead rig is easily balanced, and she is responsive to the finer points of sail shape and size as her lines are all lead to the cockpit.Ã? Reefing lines can be employed to reduce her main sail, and her roller furling gear works well to set or bring in Trilogy's attractive blue and white striped Genoa. Her deck is protected by dual lifelines and cabin top hand rails that make going forward safer when her stainless steel plow anchor is set.Ã? The work of bringing heavy items aboard is made manageable by using her new Forespar motor hoist.Ã?Â
Ã?Â
A further improvement is the addition of two 100 Watt Sunpower solar panels and a controllerÃ? to help maintain Trilogy's four dual purpose batteries.Ã? That equipment was installed in December, 2021.Ã? Three new marine fire extinguishers are located strategically throughout the boat. Listed in ship's notes and carried aboard are new spare parts and new filters for many of Trilogy's systems.Ã? That inclusion will make nearly any repair project less costly as a new owner continues to maintain Trilogy in the manner to which she has become accustomed.Ã? Manuals and installation paperwork for many of those parts are stored aboard. Ã?Â
Ã?Â
Going below presents a pleasing combination of woodwork and comfortable blue cushions throughout the seating and sleeping surfaces.Ã? Sleeping accommodations include a sizable V-berth with drawers and a hanging locker; a fold out berth can be arranged on the starboard side of the main cabin; and the aft cabin has standing head room and a hanging locker with shelves. Trilogy offers a two burner propane stove with oven which is supplied by a dedicated propane locker in the port, aft area of the cockpit and controlled by an electronic ââ?¬Å?fume snifferââ?¬ï¿½.Ã? A stainless steel galley sink is situated near storage compartments and shelves for the supplies needed for either a day sail or an extended cruise.Ã? Her deep ice box has been upgraded with cold plate refrigeration to chill refreshments for a lengthy sail.Ã? The installation of a Dometic air conditioner/heat unit allows the crew to enjoy more comfortable interior temperatures whenever 30 Amp shore power is available, however opening ports and multiple hatches create good airflow.Ã? The head is located on the port side of the companionway for easy access from the deck.Ã? A new, never used 20 gallon holding tank was installed in February, 2022.
