34' Mainship 34 Pilot Hardtop Downeast

Vessel Walk Thru

The Mainship 34 provides accommodations for 4 in a single stateroom down galley layout with teak and holly sole.�  With her 3 hatches in the trunk cabin and two overhead hatches on the helm deck along with 6 opening ports, all with screens, there is abundant natural ventilation. When that is not sufficient, 2 units of reverse cycle (heat and cool)�  air conditioning take over.�  Equally well thought out is the lighting with several overhead recessed lamps in working areas and swivel style reading lamps at the berth and settee.

Starting forward is Stateroom�  with 6'-6" V-berth with removeable filler and with storage under and�  full length shelves above while additional storage may be found in the hanging locker aft and to starboard and in adjacent lockers.� �

Next aft is the Salon and Galley.� � To starboard the 6'-6" U-Shaped Settee provides plenty of seating at the pedestal table for dining.�  There is storage under the settee and behind the seat backs as well in shelves above.�  The table drops to act as a filler when converting the settee to a double berth.

Opposite the fore and aft Galley featuring Corian counter top,�  3 burner electric stove with oven, GE microwave, large singe basin stainless steel sink and generous amounts of storage.�  Chilled foodstuffs are kept in a dual voltage under cabinet refrigerator freezer.

Aft and to port is the enclosed head� with Vacu-flush W.C., vanity with stainless steel sink, good storage and ensuite shower which drains to a separate sump.

Up 3 steps to the helm deck with double forward facing helm and companion seats forward with notable amounts of storage under, and inboard facing double seats aft of that.�  At the aft end of the port seat is an on deck top load ice box.�  The entire helm deck aft of the helm seats is on pneumatic struts allowing it to be lifted to access the machinery space.

Down one step to the cockpit with plenty of room for deck chairs etc for entertaining (a factory installed double transom seat and bolster surrounds has been removed in favor of more flexible seating but is available).�  Lazarettes below the cockpit provide plenty of storage space.�  2 steps up to the wide side decks leading forward ensconced by stainless steel safety rails.

Electrical

Wired for 12 Volt DC and 110 Volt AC service.�  An Onan 8kw generator showing 337 hours as of 7/19/21 handles AC loads when off the dock, completely rebuilt in 2013 at Journey's End Rockland, ME.�  � In 2018 an ABYC recommended upgrade was made providing more complete separation between 12 and 110 volt systems along with the addition of remote battery switches adjacent to the electrical panels along with other upgrades, see below.

Mechanical

This Mainship 34 is equipped with the 350 hp upgrade Yanmar 6LP-STE diesel vs the standard 315 hp model. The engine turns a 4 bladed 25"X28"�  on a 2" stainless steel shaft through a ZF 3:1 reduction gear.�  The owner reports an easy cruise speed of 2200 providing 14 knots�  though the engine can be cruised easily at higher RPM.�  The hour meter shows 1554 hours as of 7/19/21.

Hull and Deck

Fiberglass hull with Maroon Awlgrip and white boot and cove stripe. The bottom was stripped in 2010 and epoxy barrier coated� � and is finished with black epoxy antifouling and has been kept well sanded and fair.� � Off white deck and house with molded in non-skid in appropriate areas.� �

The hull form is a modified downeast style hull with full keel and skeg protected prop and rudder.�  .Post build white PVC spray rails were added so that this Mainship 34 is noticeably� drier running in a chop.
