Easily one of the better-looking mid-size walkarounds on the market, the Mako 284 began life in 2005 when she was introduced. Mako engineers redesigned the transom soon afterââ?¬â??adding some additional fuel and water capacity in the processââ?¬â?? (Just to confuse things a little more, it should be noted that Makoââ?¬â?¢s original 284 Walkaround model is now called the 293 Walkaround.) Built on a solid fiberglass deep-V hull with an 9-foot, 10-inch beam, the Mako 284 will appeal to family-oriented anglers who want the go-anywhere versatility and the overnight accommodations of a cuddy cabin. Deep fish boxes are located under the deck, and a stand-up livewell and drop boxes are built into the transom. Thereââ?¬â?¢s plenty of room for electronics at the helm, and the cabinââ?¬â??with its teak trim, enclosed head compartment, standing headroom, mini galley, and aft berthââ?¬â??will sleep four.

The Mako 284 is a mid-tier walkaround from a company long known for building durable, no-nonsense fishing boats. Mako has gone through several ownership changes in recent years, but through it all the brandââ?¬â?¢s reputation for durability has remained intact. Introduced in 2005, the 284 is heavily built on a solid fiberglass hull with high gunnels and a wide 9'10" beam. Her versatile layout, with an uncluttered cockpit and cushioned helm, is well suited for serious fishing as well as day cruising. Standard features include an integrated dive platform, anchor locker, bait prep station (behind the helm) with sink, and tackle storage, 50-gallon livewell, transom door, cockpit lights, rod holders, drink holders, cockpit rod storage, trim tabs, cockpit bolsters, raw-water washdown, companion seating, in-deck fish boxes (3), and folding rear seat.  Twin Mercury 300 Verados top out at close to 45 knots.

A popular boat during her production years, the Mako 284 is a big walkaround cuddy with just about every feature an angler could ask for on a boat this size. Shes heavily built with a solid fiberglass bottom, and wide walkways around the cabin provide good 360-degree fishability. The 284s uncluttered cockpit is large enough for two anglers and their gear, and visibility from the raised helm deck is excellent. Standard features include an integrated swim/dive platform, transom door, in-floor fish/storage boxes, tackle center, fresh/raw-water washdowns, deluxe helm seats, cockpit rod storage, anchor locker, gunnel rod holders (4), transom shower, trim tabs, cockpit lights, and swim ladder. A factory hardtop and transom bench seat were popular options. Below deck, the 284s cozy mid-cabin interior features a galley with sink and fridge, enclosed head/shower compartment, teak and holly sole, and convertible dinette/V-berth forward. Wide side decks are a plus. No lightweight, the Mako 284 can reach close to 45 knots top with Mercury 300 outboards.

Overall condition of the boat is excellent  - including the exterior upholstery
