With nearly 3,000 boats sold over the first 26 years, the Catalina 36 is arguably the most popular sailboat of this size ever built. Designed by in-house naval architect Gerry Douglas, the Catalina 36 measures 36' 4" length overall with a beam of 11' 11". The draft on this vessel is 5' 10", with a displacement of 13,500 lbs. The Catalina MK II replaced the original model in 1995, and shares the same principal dimensions as the original, although the beam is carried further aft resulting in a significantly larger cockpit and a more comfortable and roomy quarter berth cabin. One of the best design efforts put forth by Catalina Yachts; in 1995 this sailboat took honors as Cruising World's "Boat of the Year".

The Catalina 36 is the perfect boat for the growing family, or the couple that just wants more space on a boat. With its big cockpit and spacious interior, it is comfortable for two couples, or just as easily single-handed by one.
