OverviewThe Sabre 402 was designed to provide exceptional performance yet be easily sailed by a couple. In association with Naval Architecht Jim Taylor, the Sabre Design Team wanted to show that cruising need not be slow and that performance can add considerably to the enjoyment of a sailing yacht. Boat speed increases the range and scope of a sailor's cruising grounds. Sabre wanted to incorporate the latest in design and construction technology, yet maintain the Sabre reputation for traditional craftsmanship and integrity.
The Sabre 402 has been proven to be fast, yet requires little physical effort to make her perform. She is ruggedly built and incorporates new technologies, such as her carbon fibre rudder post and state of the art keel design. She offers greater stability, comfort and security than other boats in her class.
Her aluminum rig by Hall Spars is awlgrip finished with triple swept back spreaders and rod rigging. This rig was chosen for light weight and high strength and reduces heeling angles and pitching which leads to extraordinary performance and comfort under way.
Genoa tracks are placed well inboard for close sheeting angles and superb performance sailing to weather. A second set of genoa tracks are provided on the toe rail for wind conditions calling for a more open slot between main and genoa.
The cockpit is designed for comfort and security at sea. Unlike some boats where "picnic tables" have become the dominant feature of the cockpit, the crew of the 402 can easily brace their feet on the leeward cockpit seat for maximum crew comfort.
The bridge deck at the forward end of the cockpit serves several purposes. It prevents flooding in the unlikely event that a wave should board the yacht and it is the best seat in the house in poor weather when used in conjunction with the dodger.
The interior of the yacht is crafted with American Cherry wood. With her beam of 13'4" deep, comfortable settees are found port and starboard. The port side converts to a double berth to be used for occasional guests or as a sea berth underway. The starboard settee serves as a sea berth and is equipped with a lee cloth. The centerline drop leaf table can comfortably seat six at mealtime.
Deep lockers outboard provide substantial storage spaces. A large deck hatch, stainless steel opening ports and large fixed port lights provide excellent light and ventilation.
Forward of the salon is the master stateroom with its large centerline berth. There are ample drawers and lockers for storage space. And the forward mirror, vanity and sink, makes this space even more functional. The starboard side hanging locker is cedar lined.
A large overhead hatch, two smaller opening overhead hatches and two stainless steel opening ports provide ample light and ventilation.
Ultraleather Cushions throughout Salon and settees.
GalleyThe U Shaped galley is a pleasure whether preparing meals at dock or under sail and provides safety and security for crew. Laminated wood fiddles on counter tops prevent spillage and lockers with louvered doors, hand made dovetailed drawers and clever storage space will provide ample space for any galley chef.
Centerline fiberglass stainless steel sink with Hot/Cold pressure water system. To port and forward is a large refrigerator with freezer. This freezer is top loading and the refrigerator has an opening at the top as well as a front loading door.
