Cockpit Seating

Let’s begin with the impressive cockpit that is made up of two separate lounge areas. Forward on the port side, is a large L-shaped settee that can also be a relaxing chase lounge. Several people can sit here and accompany the captain while at cruising. The aft seating is comprised of a generous U- shaped settee with enough room for up to half-a-dozen of your favorite shipmates. A lightweight snack table can be inserted here to provide the best place on board for lunch or sunset cocktails. Storage space below the seat cushions conceals an insulated cooler that is removable for shore excursions.

Forward in the cockpit, but aft of the helm station, is a wet bar. It comes complete with a pressurized fresh water faucet, a deep sink and cabinet space below.

Behind the Wheel

With the MerCruiser controls, the helm station is first rate, integrated with an easy to use gauge and switch array. The top tier of the dash supplies all the critical engine instrumentation, while the lower tier has all your accessory power switches nicely labeled. The European styled, sport steering wheel is very plush and is adjustable with a tilt column.

Molded into the helm console are several steps that lead to the foredeck. Ample steps and a stainless steel grab rail help to ease the transition forward. Up front, Maxum ensured that the SE had a large forward sunning area with removable, snap-in cushions for all you sun gods. One of my favorite aspects of this deluxe cruiser was the anchor locker. Beautifully concealed under a large hatch, is an electric windlass, the control switches and a mooring cleat. Just forward of the locker, is a useful roller furling and low profile spotlight.

Swim Platform

The stern supplies pure functionality with a locking transom door and a wide swim platform. Here you will find excellent non-skid surface molded into the deck, providing a sure-footed grip when tending to the transom locker. Inside the roomy transom locker, is enough space to stow all your fenders and lines, which helps keep the SE’s decks uncluttered.

Cabin

Below decks, the 3100 SE really shines. A three-step ladder, leads you down into a contemporary salon, inviting you to relax on her curvaceous sofa. Curving through most of the cabin, this comfortable seating arrangement converts into a U-shaped dinette or a spacious berth for two adults. The owner’s bunk is located aft in the salon and amid ship. Here you’ll find a wide berth located near the boats center of gravity, delivering the calmest place on the boat to sleep. Located to starboard is the cruisers head compartment. Inside the molded compartment, is ample room to use the sink with vanity, flush toilet, or the shower.

Galley

Topping off all these amenities is the galley. Equipped with gloss maple cabinets and silver toned hardware and appliances, the galley is a cook’s dream. The simple, solid surface counter topped layout, gives the chef of the day plenty of room to prepare meals using the electric cook top, refrigerator and microwave oven.

Specs

This cruiser offers a comfortable beam of 10 feet, 6 inches and an overall length of 30 feet, 9 inches, the 3100 SE is a stable entertaining platform, which weighs 10, 800 pounds with the standard engines installed. These standard engines are from MerCruiser and produce 220 horsepower each. But this Maxum has the optional 260 Hp Package for exciting performance.  This power is transmitted through Bravo Two drives and their three-bladed propellers.

Performance Numbers

At wide-open throttle, and a top speed of 40 miles per hour at 4,600 rpm. Throttling back to 3,500 rpm, for a cruise speed of 28.5 miles per hour. The boat produces a solid ride at this speed and delivers 1.3 miles to the gallon. This will stretch your cruising range to a leisurely 180 miles before having to refuel the cruiser’s 150-gallon fuel tank.
