sturdy and well-engineered yacht, the Hatteras 61 MY has retained

a good deal of popularity thanks in large measure to her

modern galley-up floorplan, a feature not always found in 1980sera

motor yachts but the preferred layout with many of today’s

buyers. The upper level of the Hatteras 61 is divided into four

sections: an enclosed wheelhouse forward, separate galley and

dinette area, a huge full-width salon, and a small aft deck platform

with room for line-handling but not much else. A second dinette

is located on the lower level along with four staterooms and four

heads—a big floorplan for a 61-footer and certainly one of the

more appealing features of this yacht. Note that the extravagant

owner’s cabin with its walk-in wardrobe is the only stateroom aft

of the separate walk-in engine rooms. Additional features include a

very spacious flybridge with dinghy storage aft, a full teak interior,

port and starboard wheelhouse deck doors, foredeck lounge seating,

a tub/shower in the aft head compartment, and an integral bow

pulpit.
