"This yacht is a must see as she has just been restored and rebuilt in places. The workmanship is top notch and Atlantea is in fantastic shape for her age and pedigree."

FIRST THE DISCLOSURE -

Atlantea fell over on her stands last winter during a storm at a yard in Southern Maine. The current owner, a boat builder, purchased the vessel from a salvage company in June 2014.

The damage was located primarily on the port side mid-ships covering approximately a 6’X7’ area on the hull. In addition the galley counters, bulkheads, and sole were moved out of alignment. The deck had a small crack in the waterway. The Spar was damaged at the spreader bar.

Repairs completed:

Port side hull damage: The outer skin and damaged balsa were removed from the affected area. The inner laminate was repaired as necessary, vacuum bagged with new balsa, the outer skin re-laminated, and hull area faired w/ Awlgrip Awlfair. Awlgrip paint will be sprayed on the entire hull.

Interior: The galley was removed, the bulkheads were rebuilt and re-glassed to the hull, the galley counters etc. were rebuilt and reinstalled. The sole was removed, the mast step  inspected and the gridwork was re-glassed to the hull. There was pre-existing delamination in the gridwork area which we addressed as well as fabricating a custom pan on the mast step to drain water directly into the bilge to divert water from the mast in order prevent sole damage. The cabin soles were then stripped, sanded and refinished with a gloss varnish. All the interior woodwork including companionway was cleaned up and re-oiled or re-varnished as necessary.

Spar: A new section was purchased and the repairs were engineered by Hall Spars. A new spreader bar was purchased from Hall Spars as well. The rod was inspected by Maloney Marine Rigging and a few liners were replaced. This was due to pre-existing conditions and damage from the fall was non-existent. All the running rigging is high tech and in almost new condition. The mast will be sprayed with Awlgrip once repairs complete.

Decks: The deck crack was repaired from underneath with fiberglass and gelcoat applied on deck. The exterior woodwork on deck was stripped, sanded and a Cetol gloss finish was applied. The teak cockpit table and drink holder were varnished. New stainless dorades were installed. A new custom anchor locker was fabricated and a new Lewmar windlass and saltwater washdown installed. These items were upgrades not relating to the accident.
