Hull & Deck
The hull is a white fiberglass/carbon fiber composite with a non-skid light grey deck. Teak trim throughout the companionway, and splash rail. A large Lewmar hatch provides access to the forepeak and a sliding main companionway hatch and board with lock are at the bridge deck.
The entire hull, decks, cockpit, amas, etc,. were prepped, primed, and re-Awl gripped in spring 2013! INTERIOR PAINTED AND VARNISHED IN 2014.
A daggerboard is housed in its trunk to starboard of the mast step. Control lines are led aft to the starboard side of the main hatch, allowing the dagger board to accommodate a range of depth settings. The daggerboard is 11' in length and can be lowered about 3' into it's 7' trunk. When fully raised, approximately 3'-6" of board is exposed above decks.
The interior of each ama is accessible by a single Lewmar hatch adjacent to the main cap shroud bulkhead. Deck fill fittings permit manual pump access to each void tank. The amas have never been used for storage and are dry. The amas were rebuilt in 2003 to provide additional displacement.
New in '07 are the custom made non-skid nets between the crossarms, floats, and main hull.

Sails & RiggingIn 2006, a custom Hall carbon fiber spar was installed to replace the original mast. The spar is spreader less and is fitted with the original Harken roller furling headstay and updated with eight composite fiber shrouds.
The mainsail is fitted to the mast using an Antal track system with the original Antal cars (no roller bearings). An Edson radar bracket is properly insulated and installed on the mast just above the inner forestay.
The loose-footed main is fitted to the original re-Awlgriped metal boom, which has two sets of handholds P&S. A 4' aluminum bowsprit extends from the stemhead on a custom swivel hinge secured forward by a bobstay, to which the roller furling screacher and spinnaker track line are attached.
On deck, adjacent to the companionway, are primary winches P&S for the headsails, a main halyard winch, a control line winch, utility winch for the screecher/spinnaker halyards and mainsail reefing and mainsheet winch. The intention of positioning these winches was to offer excellent solo and short-handed sailing without exiting the cockpit. A winch on the cockpit seatback ledges to P&S provide easy control of the composite running backstays. Ten Lewmar spinlocks organize leads of control lines and halyards to the winches. A single winch is located on the mast below the gooseneck, for the roller furling genoa. All are Harken self-tailing winches.
SCOUT was not in service in 2011 and 2012 so her sails show better then the build date indicates.
