Accommodations
The accommodations are comfortable and roomy while allowing for a tremendous amount of secure storage under and behind the settees and in numerous bilge compartments. This boat would be hard to beat in storage capacity by most 45 footers. The basic layout from fore to aft is: Head (forepeak behind anchor locker), Owner’s stateroom (with very large Pullman to starboard), Salon—amidship settees port and starboard (starboard converts to a double berth) with fold down double leaf dinette (completely deployed large enough for 6 adults), rear facing nav station (starboard), Head (port), aft and starboard in the main cabin is a secure and useable galley, Guest stateroom aft and to port has a large double berth which is a great sea berth while underway. There are 7 opening hatches with screens as well as 13 opening ports with screens allow for excellent ventilation throughout the boat, assisted by 5 Hella Turbo 12-volt fans.
The galley is safe and efficient in design. The voluminous refrigerated compartment (with electric drain pump) and dry goods storage areas are ample to store months of food. Built in cupboards hold dishes and cups effectively, while allowing for easy access. The three burner propane stove has enough oven space to cook holiday dinners for crew and friends. The double sink has filtered (Seagull) drinking water faucet, pressurized fresh water faucet & pressurized saltwater faucet.
The nav station is utilitarian in nature with communication, electrical panel, and other controls all in easy reach. The nav desk opens level to keep your navigation PC and the chart drawer holds all the paper charts you’ll need for extended cruising.
The cockpit, where much leisure time is spent, is comfortable, safe and well protected from the elements with a bimini, dodger, & full enclosure with both windows and insect screens. Full length cockpit seats allow for comfortable seating even with a full crew. A water spray unit makes rinsing off the stern, or refreshing cockpit showers, a breeze. High coamings and a large lazerette allows access to the mechanical gear for the autopilot, chartplotter etc. Engine panel, VHF, and instrumentation cluster are readily accessible from behind the Edson rack and pinion steering pedestal.
GalleyGood storage along with plenty of work space make this one of the best designed galleys on all Island Packet models.
