ACCOMMODATIONS AND LAYOUT:
Born in 1976, Freedom Yachts has been building boats for 30 years, with a well-established reputation for building quality sailboats. The Freedom 30 is no exception!
The interior gets high marks, with teak/holly sole and teak wood used judiciously throughout. Natural light and ventilation are very good via 4 opening ports, 4 large fixed ports and 3 hatches. Artificial light is equally abundant with reading lamps at each berth and settee as well as additional overhead dome lamps.
"Quixote" has two comfortable and private staterooms. Starting with the forward stateroom you have an enclosed room with V-berth and filler. Access to the chain locker is through the forward bulkhead. There is a hanging locker located just aft of the berth and to starboard and additional storage space is below the berth. Aft of the forward cabin and to port, is the head with electric head and treatment system and ensuite shower. The vanity has ample counter space and includes a sink with hot and cold pressure water. There is good storage behind the head and under the sink.
Following aft is the main salon featuring straight port and starboard settees. Forward of the starboard settee is a good size shelf with a cut out making this a full length sea berth. There is a water tank under the starboard settee and storage under the port. Behind the seat backs of both settees is more storage. Outboard of the port settee is also two cabinets with louvered doors and book shelf. The teak fold-down table has room for 6 and when folded up against the bulkhead, it hides shelves for bottles or glassware.
The nav station and galley are aft of the salon. The nav station to starboard has a workable 30"x24" surface area. There is storage underneath the lift up table and in a large cabinet below. Across from the nav table is the galley.
There is surprising amount of living space below, it is the type of interior you would expect to find on many 35 foot boats. NEW headliner in 2009.
GALLEY:
This is a well thought out L-shaped Galley. The refrigerator is top loading and quite large for ample stowage. You have a single stainless sink with hot and cold pressure water. Under the sink is a silverware drawer and large cabinet. Behind the fridge is shelf storage for china. Outboard of the stove is a sliding cabinet for additional storage.
