Accommodations
6'6" headroom throughout, the Sabre 42 Express sleeps 4 comfortably. "My Bonny's" interior cherry wood has darkened, contrasting beautifully with her lighter ash hull ceilings. The traditional teak & holly cabin sole contributes to the classic fit and finish that Sabre is known for. "Hand Crafted in the Maine Tradition," as the slogan goes.
The large aft cockpit is a terrific platform for casting a lure or sipping evening cocktails. Molded aft-facing settees with striped Sunbrella cushions provide comfortable seating, with plenty of space to set up additional deck chairs and a table. Below the cockpit deck is deep storage under 3 wide hatches. "My Bonny" has custom teak grates that hinge for easy access to the bilge while keeping stored items high and dry.
Up two steps is the very social helm deck. Soft laid teak & thiokol underfoot, the windshield windows are framed in cherry. The L-settee to port provides seating for 2-4 at a solid cherry pedestal table with a maple inlaid starburst. With a single seat to stbd, spin the Stidd helm and mate seats around to make this a friendly circle. Inside the wetbar and behind cherry louvered doors is a Uline icemaker and custom storage shelf. The Corian countertop and stainless steel sink with hot & cold fresh water make cocktail or snack prep convenient without leaving the helm deck.
Spin the Stidd seats to face forward again and you're ready for a very comfortable cruise. The center windshield opens out, while the side windows slide back to let in a cooling cross breeze. Fwd of the mate seat is plexi-glass chart storage with custom cherry fiddles. To stbd "My Bonny's" helm console is classically dressed with custom cherry overlay panels. The varnished mahogany steering wheel can be tilted up or down for your comfort. See below for the full list of electronics.
Step down solid cherry companionway steps to enter the spacious main salon. An L-settee to port faces a bulkhead mounted LCD thin screen TV to stbd. The solid cherry table with birds eye maple inlay can be heightened on a pedestal for meals and lowered to create a coffee table. Ultraleather cushions throughout the boat provide soft seating. Fresh air and light brighten the cabin through stainless portlights and a Lewmar overhead hatch. All portlights open and have screens, and all overhead hatches are fitted with OceanAir Skyscreens. Storage is behind louvered cherry cabinet doors, on fiddled shelves behind the settee, and in drawers below the settee - pull out the forward-most drawer to discover the trademark Sabre tool drawer.
Aft and to port in the main cabin is the galley. Conveniently located next to the companionway, a stainless portlight over the sink makes this a cheery spot to put together a meal. See below for more details.
Across the main cabin to stbd is the guest cabin with a cherry door for privacy. Bulkhead mounted cabin lights make this a comfortable spot to read, and the settee pulls out to create a double berth, accommodating another couple. Storage is in drawers below the berth and behind louvered cherry flip-down doors along the hullside. There are two stainless portlights above.
The forward cabin offers a 6'6" island queen with a Memory Foam mattress. Storage is behind hullside tambour sliders to port and stbd and behind solid cherry sliders in wing lockers to either side of the berth. A Splendide washer/dryer combo unit hides behind solid cherry doors below the island berth, with a custom laundry bin hidden below a hinged cabin sole panel. Additional storage is in 2 drawers, a flip-down cabinet to port and in a full-sized cedar hanging locker to stbd. Natural light and air pour through stainless opening portlights and an overhead Lewmar hatch.
Just aft and to stbd, the fully enclosed head can be access from the fwd cabin and also from the main salon. Both head doors have custom mirrored panels, creating full-length mirrors. A stainless portlight and overhead Lewmar hatch provide ventilation. The fully enclosed shower stall has a teak grate shower seat with a custom hinge and storage below. The plexi-glass cylindrical door shields the rest of the head from shower spray. Storage in the head is in tambour slider cabinets behind the Corian counter, and in cabinets below the sink, behind the Jabsco electric MSD and behind the shower seat.
