Accommodations
Sabre Yachts is deservedly highly touted for attention to detail and quality joiner work, and this Sabre 426 is no exception. She has accommodations for up to seven in a two stateroom layout with a full varnished cherry interior with a varnished teak and holly sole throughout. Headroom is 6'6" in the salon and aft cabin and 6'4" plus in the fwd cabin. Natural light and ventilation are unparalleled with ten polished stainless opening ports, 4 large fixed ports and 7 Lewmar opening hatches with Ocean Air blinds and screens and 2 Dorades. All opening ports are fitted with screens. Aritificial lighting is equally well thought out with swivel style reading lamps at all berths and settees as well as several overhead lamps in working spaces.
Starting forward is the spacious forward cabin featuring a 6'10" V-berth with storage below in several drawers and some bin type storage under the foot of the berth. Above the berth the hull is lined with varnished ash ceilings. Aft and to starboard is a short bench seat with storage under and shelves behind while opposite is a bureau with a locker outboard and three large drawers adjacent to which is private access to the head.
Continuing aft to port is the enclosed head with separate stall shower area, manual Jabsco WC (owner has original electric Jabso "quiet flush head" which could be re-installed), vanity with polished stainless sink and H&C pressure water, and good storage in several lockers and drawers. Opposite to starboard is a large hanging locker and then next aft a bureau with drawers with a locker outboard.
The spacious Main Salon is next aft featuring an L-shaped settee to port which may be made out into a double berth and a equally generous L-shaped settee to starboard. Tankage, systems and some storage is below the settees and in "cubbies" behind the seat backs and in lockers and shelves above. Dining is from an expansive varnished cherry table with a leaf that folds out to service both the P&S settees and folds up against the forward bulkhead when not in use. Behind the stored position of the table is a magazine/book rack.
Aft and to port is the Nav. Station featuring a forward facing chart table the top of which flips up to access Laptop storage, a set of storage drawers. The yacht's electrical distribution panels and some of the electronics. Just aft of the Nav. Station is the door to the private Aft Cabin which features a true queen sized 6'10" quarterberth that has some bin type storage under. Above the berth the hull is lined with varnished ash ceilings and there is a full length under deck locker. Additional storage is in lockers and drawers at the forward end of the cabin. After using this Sabre 426 for two seasons and in preparation for cruising further afield, the owner removed the rarely used aft cabin sink and had his yard build in additional storage in its place.
Opposite the aft cabin and nav. area is the seakindly and expansive U-shaped Galley featuring Corian counter tops, double basin polished Scanvik stainless steel sink with H&C pressure water, manual fresh water foot pump ('06) and manual salt water foot pump ('06). Chilled food stuffs are easily handled in the large well insulated "ice box" fitted with engine driven Seafrost refrigeration. There is excellent stroage in several lockers and drawers,
In optimizing the yacht for offshore sailing, the owner added positive latches to all of the cabin sole hatches, sail lockers and lazarettes.

Sails & RiggingHall Spars awlgripped triple airfoil spreader rig, keel stepped, with stainless steel rod rigging. The yacht is currently rigged with a Harken Battcar system on the main but formerly had a
Leisure Furl system which could be re-installed.
All of the current sail inventory was built by Hallett Sails in 2006, the Storm Jib has never been used and the 150% RF Genoa has only been lightly used. While the yacht has been extensively cruised with the current sails, the owner reports that she has been sailed
very conservatively, e.g., when cruising offshore, they automatically put the third reef in every evening, etc. 1/2 of the running rigging was renewed in '06 with the remaining 1/2 done in '08.

"Chips" for the plotters include the entire eastern seaboard of the US and Northern Bahamas, Nova Scotia, the St. Lawrence, & Bermuda.
The primary sailing instruments are mounted in a pod over the companionway and the cockpit plotter display is at the helm. The radar scanner is mast mounted and the KVH antenna is on an Edson post mounted aft.

MechanicalAt the time this Sabre 426 was built, the upgraded Yanmar 56 HP diesel was installed in lieu of the then standard smaller Westerbeke. It turns a 3 blade Max Prop on a 1-3/8" Aquamet stainless steel shaft through a 2.7:1 reduction gear.
In optimizing the yacht for long distance cruising, the owner removed one of the two 60 Gal. rated water tanks and installed a 40 Gal. aluminum fuel tank in its place along with a 15 Gal. poly water tank hence the changes noted with an asterisk under tankage. While the owner no longer has the water tank, one is easily obtainable and it would not be difficult to reconfigure to the original set up if one so chose.

Hull & DeckSingle unit, hand laminated fiberglass hull with alternate layers of knitted biaxial E-glass with Divinycell closed cell foam coring with Vinylester resin in the exterior laminate and Isotahlic gel coat for superior blister protection. The topsides are finished in flag blue gel coat with an optional white/blue/white/blue double boot stripe and gold cove stripe. The bottom is finished with ablative green antifouling.
Single unit resin infused fiberglass deck with Airex closed cell foam and high density PVC core in high stress areas finished with two tone gel coat "Moon Dust" on white. Teak toe rails with stainless chocks fitted fore, aft and midships, teak grab rails currently being stripped and refinished with Cetol clear. Double stainless bow and stern rails and stanchions with double lifelines with gates P&S. The owner being very meticulous about preparing the yacht for sailing offshore, installed new lifelines in 2006 even though the "old" ones were just three years old. Access to the "step" transom via a gate on c/l aft. Divided anchor locker and custom stainless bow anchor roller.
The large cockpit will comfortably seat six to eight people and is fitted with a large sail locker to starboard along with lazarettes aft. Edson wheel steering with binnacle guard with cover. Wide side decks provide ease of access when transiting fore and aft. Additional pad eyes were installed to facilitate jack lines when sailing offshore. As further offshore prep, the companionway was "ruggedized" by replacing the slide with 1/2" lexan and the same for the companionway boards. These may be secured from inside or out.

AdditionalVISION QUEST has been highly upgraded for long distance cruising. After spending two years in fresh water, her owners brought her to Maine and then began making significant upgrades so that they could do more extensive cruising, including some offshore passages, in comfort and safety. Now having completed this dream cruise, the plan is to return to smaller boats making this an excellent opportunity to own this wonderfully outfitted Sabre 426 at a fraction of her replacement cost. Part of the upgrades include extensive additional safety gear, ground tackle, etc., as listed along with systems upgrades, etc., totaled over $100,000. The relatively minor changes one might wish to make, to make her more of a coastal cruising vessel, are not significant or expensive and you still have the benefit of all the other upgrades!
