General Description and Accommodations
The Island Packet 420 was a significant evolution from prior Island Packet models. It is improved in its dimensions, in it's seakeeping ability and comfort, and in its stability and speed. The LOA is 44 feet 7 inches. She has two private cabins and heads, a galley and a salon. Head room is 6 feet 5 inches. Under full canvas, she carries 1088 square feet of sail. Tankage is a spacious 160 gallons for fuel, 250 for water, and 60 for the holding tank. She has nearly 400 cubic feet of dedicated storage area.
"One Eyed Parrots" is a two owner boat. More than $120,000 in additions and upgrades to the standard Island Packet package done at commissioning make her comprehensively equipped and maintained for cruising. She has been sailed between Florida and the Bahamas for the last 13 years. A partial listing of her equipment includes a bow thruster, a dual capstan 12 volt anchor windlass, and furling genoa, staysail and mainsail. She has radar, dual chart plotters (helm and nav station), a hydraulic linear autopilot, oversized winches, a 10 foot RIB with storage locker and a 15 horsepower outboard. A stainless steel radar arch and dingy davit provide a base for her radar dome, three solar panels, wind generator, wi-fi antenna, VHS antenna and "Follow Me TV" satellite dish.
To make cruising comfortable, she has a 5.5 kw diesel generator, two reverse cycle heating/air-conditioning units, a single side band radio with a Pactor modem, two vacuum flush heads, a 15 GPH water maker, and a VHF radio with microphones at both nav station and helm. This boat is fully equipped and ready to go cruising today.
Salon:
Custom hinged teak doors with glass insets lead from the companionway to the salon below. The salon and galley are typical Island Packet; well thought out, spacious, beautiful, with plenty of headroom, lighting, ventilation and storage. The salon sole is solid teak and oak. Cabinetry is all teak. The salon seating is all 6" thick foam covered with an aqua blue very comfortable ultra-leather fabric. (Extra fabric available). The navigation and communications desk is located on the starboard side of the cabin forward of the galley and aft of the salon. It has plenty of desk area and instrumentation panels and a hydraulically operated swing out navigation seat.
The salon has port and starboard settees, and the starboard settee converts into a double berth. The dining table is a signature Island Packet design which folds up and out of the way to the bulkhead for storage when not in use. Secure and convenient shelving is located behind the table which provides elegant storage for wine bottles, glasses, etc. Another nice touch is that the keel-stepped mast is handsomely covered in the same aqua ultra-leather as the settees.

Galley:
The galley which is to the right of the companionway features a large wrap around design and counter-tops with integral sea rails on all edges Protected by a tinted splash guard, deep double stainless steel sinks have a custom "high rise" faucet and retractable spray unit. A gimballed 3 burner Seaward Princess propane stove has a lift off cover, thermostatically controlled oven, and a stainless steel guard rail with harness hooks. A microwave oven (extra unit on board) handles all your quick cooking needs. A gasketed lid supported by a gas strut opens to separate refrigeration and freezer units, each with its own compressor to provide space for provisions for even the longest journey. The Frigoboat units are keel cooled and efficient. You can even enjoy ice cream on board!
There is plenty of storage with with a dry storage area as well as teak racks and cutlery drawers. There is a slide out trash container.
Cabins and Heads:
The master cabin (forward) has a large offset queen bed that eliminates the need for one person to crawl over another to get in and out of bed. The aft end of the bed lifts on gas struts to reveal two levels of storage. Shelving on both sides of the cabin, drawers under the bed, and two large lockers provide additional storage.
The forward head has a separate shower stall and folding acrylic door, molded seat, and electric sump pump. The toilet is a fresh-water Vacuflush. Plumbing allows waste to be pumped directly overboard or into a 60 gallon holding tank. The tank can be emptied by either a deck pump-out or by use of the mascerator pump. The spacious anchor locker is accessed via a door in the shower stall.
The guest cabin (aft) has a queen size berth, hanging locker and storage cabinets. Like the rest of the boat, ample head room, lighting and ventilation are provided. There is a locker to store your fishing poles too.
The aft head can be acccesed from either the aft cabin or saloon and contains another Vacuflush toilet, sink and shower stall.
