Vessel Walkthrough
The Catalina 42, two-stateroom model offers one of the best cabin layouts in sailboats today. This is the preferred 2 Stateroom, 2 head layout that is a favorite amongst owners. Corian counters, beautiful teak finish and quality fabrics accent the thoughtfully designed interior. Entering from the cockpit is through a wide companionway by the way of 4 wide stairs for easy access. To port is a long and spacious, user-friendly galley with great storage for a long cruise. Aft of the Galley is the large pantry, and access to the below deck, cockpit storage. To starboard across from the galley is an aft stateroom with an almost queen size berth and access to the day head. The main salon is open and well ventilated with ample light, and features a very large, U-shaped dinette to port with a table that drops down to convert to an additional double berth. Adjacent to starboard is a comfortable settee and forward is the Nav station. Further forward is the Master Stateroom with queen pullman berth to port, ample storage with hanging locker, shelves, and drawers to starboard. The private head is in the bow of the yacht with the shower being in the forepeak.

The long L-shape of the galley has plenty of storage, including a pantry with some clever built in compartments. The additional flip-up counter adds extra work space. There is a large double refrigerator and freezer and a gimbaled 3 burner propane stove and oven. The double stainless-steel sink makes clean up easy with pressure hot and cold water. Lazarette access from the aft end of the galley is a unique feature and is just another great example of the innovations from the Catalina design team. Corian counters and teak wood work embrace the functionality for a beautiful galley.

Hull/Deck/Cockpit
Manufacture Provided Description; "The Catalina 42 has earned an international reputation as the leader in her class. By leading in design, cruising performance, and comfort, the Catalina 42 has become the first choice of sailors worldwide. The hull of the 42 MkII is high volume, and easily driven, with a fine entry, firm midship section, and smooth run aft terminating in a modified reverse transom with an uncommonly spacious and functional boarding platform. A long, horizontal skeg runs aft between the fin or wing keel and the rudder for sure tracking. The rudder is large and balanced, ensuring control in all conditions. The Catalina 42 MkII deck was designed with shorthanded sailing in mind. All the halyards, the mainsheet and the single line main reefing controls are led to the cockpit, and placed to be operated from under the dodger when necessary. The wide weather decks and inboard shroud base make passage forward easy and secure. The bow roller and below deck electric windlass greatly simplify anchor handling. Both the two and three cabin arrangements feature varnished teak joinery and ash side paneling on the hull. Excellent light and ventilation are provided naturally from aluminum-framed opening hatches and ports. Numerous recessed halogen lights offer an inviting ambiance."
The cockpit in the Catalina 42 is one of the most impressive areas. It is both well designed for life underway, lounging, or entertaining dockside. The cockpit benches are long and deep and built at a very comfortable angle for sitting, Stern pulpit seats and the walk thru transom insure that you will have lots of fun on the water. There is a custom, oversized dodger and a full set of cockpit cushions adding to your comfort underway as well.
