COMMENTSA Brand new Yanmar engine, and full factory warranty – makes this IP-40 a BEST BUY
If you are considering an IP 40 or another boat like it, then you have already become quite knowledgeable in the areas of what makes a strong ocean voyager with sea kindly characteristics, but has yet been designed to be comfortable and roomy, with enough storage, amenities and livability to also be home in a marina or at anchor for a season. The 40 was one of the first IP's to be equipped with the 2nd generation keel shape, which provides lift in the same manner as a fin keel does.
In Europe, where boats are safety and ability rated, the 40 carries the highest category certification for: Recreational Craft Category - A, OCEAN (designed for extended voyages where conditions may EXCEED wind force of Beaufort Scale 8 and SIGNIFICANT WAVE HEIGHTS OF 4 METERS AND ABOVE, and Vessels largely SELF SUFFICIENT). (Quote from IP Owner's Manual) There is much more required to receive this rating. That may be why so many IP 40's go overseas.
