The sole was stripped and refinished with 6 coats of marine varnish in gloss. AdditionalWe are very familiar with this Bristol 33.3 having know the original owner and sold her to owner's #2 and 3 as well as having done a couple of 1 day deliveries on her.. TIR NA nOR had one long term owner who sold her in '01. The 2nd owner bought her as an easy entry point back into cruising sail as he had just gotten married and wanted to make certain his wife would enjoy it before buying a more expensive vessel which he did just one year later. The following is a summary of the work done winter 01/02: Exterior varnish stripped and refinished with 8 coats of Epiphanes, new teak companionway slides, addition of varnished teak brows to the trunk cabin, interior sole stripped and refinished in Epiphanes satin varnish and steel pull bolts replaced with recessed polished stainless pull rings, entire interior stripped stained and varnished with 6 coats of Epiphanes satin varnish, all small pieces of interior hardware replaced (hinges, pulls, soap dishes etc,) refurbished or replaced all interior lighting, installed new metalmast mast base, three new fenders, new genoa sheets, new throttle assembly, engine belts replaced and front of engine painted, new sail cover, Interior cushions new in 99' but not used until 01', new water tank 01, replaced all head hoses and holding tank, replaced fuel line, overhaul of propane system, replaced all hoses in fresh water system, the Autohelm 4000 was installed in 2000 and the Radar was installed very late 90s.
Owner # 3 purchased her through the listing broker in the spring of 2003 and kept her in Mass. for a few years before they moved to Maine, during this time she was cruised from Cape Cod to Maine as time allowed. throughout that time she received very good care. Starting in '01time no longer allowed cruising or the ongoing maintenance of the boat and she has slipped some. After 2 seasons of little or new use, though launched each year, the owner hauled her and properly winterized her and has stored her at his home.
In preparation for selling her he has had a mechanic come in and remove the fuel tank and had it cleaned and re-installed, installed ne control cable and run the engine for app 20 minutes before laying back up. all electronics have been tested and proven operational except the wind instrument which needs to have the head gear serviced.
The owner will also do an aggressive compounding of the hull and wax it as well as sand and paint the bottom and install fresh zincs.
Having been lightly maintained for 2 years and then laid up for the past 3 she does however need a number of other things. 1. On his last sail he blew out his jib and that requires replacement. 2. All of the exterior varnish work is deteriorated and must be stripped and re-finished. 3. The cove stripe needs to be peeled off and new stripe applied. 4. The cabin sole needs a hard sanding and 4 coats or so of varnish though one could argue it is better stripped and re-finished. 5. The running lights in the bow pulpit are in poor condition and require re-placement.
While the above is substantive it is all pretty straight forward work and could be easily accomplished at low cost by a do it your selfer.
She is priced to reflect her condition and to attract a timely sale.
The Bristol 33.3 is a well executed design providing comfort for a party of 4-5 both below and in the cockpit.
