Overview
The Tayana Vancouver 42 is a well-built Robert Harris designed offshore cruiser with a cruising range, load-carrying capacity, and comfortable motion seldom found in boats under 45 feet. After 1985 the Ta Yang yard one of Taiwan's top yards used isophthalic gelcoat to resist blistering as evidensed . The boat's 11,800 pounds of ballast is in a single iron casting, encapsulated inside the keel's thick walls. Commissioned with sturdy double-spreader Isomat spars, deck-stepped and heavily stayed, the Tayana 42 incorporates a unique diamond stay at the upper spreaders supported by an aluminum arc, which some call the cowcatcher eliminating the need for running backstays.

About This BoatCompañia is a solid, blue water-proven cruiser, designed by Robert Harris and built in the famous Ta Yang yard. Compañia was the Tayana "Boat Show Boat" in 1987 so she was the very best Tayana had to offer. Her original owner lived on board and lightly cruised the US West coast for 11 years. The second owners bought her in 1998, upgraded all essential equipment including new standing rigging and rebuilt the Perkins 4-108 in 2001 to prepare her for cruising Mexico and Central America.
Her current third owners bought her in 2005 in Florida and moved her to Guatemala where she was berthed as a base for their cruising adventures. They recently brought her back to our docks at our office in Palmetto Florida to offer her for sale. They had a complete out of water survey/sea trial performed as well as an aloft rig survey in order to place her in Masseys Certified Pre-owned program. Every known finding has been addressed or disclosed giving you the confidence that your time will not be wasted if you travel to check her out.

MechanicalThe original Perkins 4-108 has an estimated 1350 hours since it was overhauled. To make sure that the engine is being conveyed in proper working order they have had Kevin McGary one of our area's best diesel mechanics go over the engine and do a complete service. (records available) In addition, Rick Shelley of Shelley Marine Surveying has performed a sea trial survey of the engine with his findings available on the boat. There was no oil analysis performed.
- The Apollo 4 kw Generator has had a new Kabota engine installed and currently has only around 9 hours of run time.
- Numerous spare parts
Broker's CommentsWhen you purchase a Classic Yacht through Massey Yacht Sales Certified Pre-owned Program you have an added advantage of not wasting time and money going through a survey that many times reveals "deal breaking" findings especially on older boats. The result can be a frustrating waste of your time. Compania represents an opportunity to own a classic, safe, true offshore sailing machine. I will challenge you to find a vintage Tayana 42 that meets the standard of this boat. The survey (copy on the boat) has factored in the original engine in coming to a value of $115,000. There is also a rig survey on the boat. Receipts and records of the thousands of dollars recently spent are also available.
