Design & Construction
The GOLDEN STAR 38 Sundeck Trawler vessel was designed by George Stadel. She was built in Kaoshiung, Taiwan by NOVA SHIPYARDS in 1987.as a twin-screw Double Cabin Flybridge Motoryacht. Her dimension are (approximately) 38'-8" LOA x 12' Beam x 3'-4" Draft. She displaces approximately 22,000 lbs.
The hull is of a deep-vee design, heavy semi-displacement with hard chines and a flared bow. The hull, decks and cabin are well-constructed layers of fiberglass mat and woven roving reinforced with polyester resin. There is a stainless steel bow pulpit and stanchions supporting stainless steel side rails and aft rails surrounding the hull. There is an aft boarding ladder leading to the swim platform.

Main Salon
The Main Salon is arranged amidships and raised over the engine compartment. The Lower Steering Station is to on the starboard side forward followed a convertible sofa and bookshelf aft. To port is a chart table forward followed by a swivel occasional chair. Port side aft is the Companionway up to the Sun Deck and amidships aft is a Companionway leading down to the Aft Stateroom.
Aft Stateroom
The Aft stateroom is arranged with a walk-around "Queen Berth" on centerline with an enclosed Head located starboard side forward and a hanging locker port side forward. There are counters with recessed lockers and drawers under both to port and starboard. The Head is fitted with an Electric Marine Toilet, a counter and sink with lockers over and under and a separate stall shower. There is extensive teak trim throughout plus a teak cabin sole with well-fitting bilge access panels.
Fore Cabin
The interior is nicely arranged with a large V-Berth forward with stowage under. There is a counter and a hanging locker to port while to starboard is an enclosed Head arranged with an Electric Marine Toilet, counter and stainless steel sink with lockers over and under. There is a telephone-type hand-held Shower & a bulkhead with a teak door.
GalleyPort side forward is the Galley Down w/ an "U" shaped layout arranged with double stainless steel sinks with pressure hot and cold water, a recessed (3) burner 115 VAC electric stove and oven with a recessed microwave oven over the refrigerator, all found in good working order. There is an adjacent upright NORCOLD 115 VAC / 12 VDC refrigerator / freezer, replaced in 2002, in a good working locker. Opposite to starboard is a Dinette with a table that lowers to form a small berth. There are lockers over and under.

Engines & Drive-TrainsMain Engines
The (2) VOLVO diesel engines are well secured on flexible footings bolted to encapsulated engine beds. The engines are mounted under the main saloon with easy access from hatches in the cabin sole. The port engine was replaced in January of 2000.
There is (approximately) a 400-hour difference between the engines as to "hours logged" given the 2000 replacement of the port engine. The starboard engine has some 905 engine hours on the meter to date.
The Heat Exchangers were overhauled in 2000.

Generator
Installed amidships aft in the engine compartment & mounted on flexible footings & bolted to a mounting platform. It is enclosed by a sound shield.

Fuel System
(2) Fuel tanks mounted and well-secured port & starboard amidships outboard of the engines and w/ stainless steel panels. The fills are flush-mounted outboard of the side decks / walkways; spills will drain overboard via the scuppers. The tanks are vented. Suction is off the bottom. The fuel lines are copper and run to DAHL Primary Fuel Filters mounted adjacent to the engines aft then through flexible feed lines to secondary filters mounted on the engines. There are "packless-type" fuel shut-off cocks mounted in the lines.
Plumbing & SystemsFresh Water System
Fresh water is provided by (2) welded stainless steel tanks mounted and well-secured amidships under the Aft Cabin Berth. There is a SHUR FLO Pressure pump mounted on the starboard side aft in the engine compartment. There is a (12) US Gallon Hot Water Heater tank mounted on the port side aft in the engine compartment with heat exchanger lines running to the port engine. Hot and cold water is supplied to both the Galley and the Head sinks and shower. The feed lines are copper and plastic.

There is an AC Voltmeter and an AC Amp Meter plus Reverse Polarity Lights and a Power Distribution Switch. The Generator "Start - Stop" controls are also mounted on this panel.
