The Catalina 30 had the longest production run of any sailboat. It was entered into the sailing hall of fame in 2001. Why? As Jack Hornor writes in a BoatUS review "Consider that you could combine the production of ten of the most popular 30' model sailboats built in the US over the last 25 years and still not approach the number of Catalina 30s built." She's easy to single hand with all lines led back to the cockpit. There's also plenty of room for four to six in the cockpit for a nice afternoon lunch meeting on the water."

She is designed for sailors who enjoy easy cruising with the family and friends. The Catalina 30's large galley, big salon table, long bunks, big head, and comfortable cockpit provides more of what you want and more than you ever thought possible at a 30-foot sailboat. The market for these boats is always strong. The boats sell very quickly and most importantly at fairly stable prices. She's the type of boat that after three or four years, if you decide to move on you can do so with your investment relatively intact. Under sail her wide beam, good ballast/displacement ratio, deep fin keel  make her a very stiff, safe and forgiving boat. The combination of the all these attributes are the why the Catalina 30 is the most popular 30 foot, family orientated, cruising sailboat of all time.
