�  �  � General Information

�  �  � Quivira is the transitional boat at the 43-44 model changeover. As such, it has the larger cross section teak toe rails, concave radiused teak hatch bases (later 44s have fiberglass step bases) topped with Lewmar Ocean series aluminum hatches, and aluminum (not SS) jib car tracks. Head sail is on Harken roller furler. Staysail is on a quick-release cam tensioner, typically pulled back for the coastal, island-hopping cruising for which she is normally sailed.

�  �  � Underside is the 6â��8â�� draft, cutaway full keel, aperture prop design, with a fixed 3 blade, bronze prop. Bottom was 100% scraped by hand completely to the gelcoat in 2013, simply to remove built-up paint. Zero blisters, no damage, minimal prior fairing and nicks evident. She was evidently barrier coated in the mid-1990s. The 2013 work included nine coats of Interlux Barrier Coat, hot coated with Micron CSC ablative paint. It is now repainted with one thin CSC coat every other year as the lower paint layer (different color) begins to show through. The owner has photos available of the full processâ�¦before, during, stripped and finished.

�  �  � Topsides are Imron painted 2-part urethane, mid-1990s perhaps. Typical scratches, and dings for the age, and pulled paint along the hull/deck joint from annual masking for brightwork. No damage/ repairs beyond the gelcoat. Looks great from 20 feet. Quivira is continuously complimented by everyone.

�  �  � Deck came from the factory with no teak decking. Deck is off-white/cream, with heavy non-skid tetrahedral pattern. Very good condition with no crazing or damage. Some light iron staining around fittings such as stanchion bases. All exterior teak is bright, finished with Epifanes high gloss varnish (13 coats to start, 2 applied annually to exposed brightwork that is not covered, i.e. toe rails, eyebrow, coaming).

�  �  � Interior is the single head (forward to port), off-set twin forward berth, starboard-facing nav station standard M44 layout.

• Main: Neil Pride, Dacron, heavy ocean construction, rigged for Dutchman flaking system. 2004-ish. Excellent condition. Sent out for washing and general maintenance every 2 years
• Jib: Neil Pride, Dacron, 110, high cut (Yankee), roller furled, foam luff. Sail in very good condition. 2004-ish. Heavy UV cover was replaced once about 10 years ago but could use replacing again
• Staysail: Original, hank-on, decent looking condition for age. Bronze hanks are stiff. We keep it aboard in its deck bag, down below, stowed beneath vee berth. We donââ?¬â?¢t use it for our type of short -tack coastal sailing amongst islands and tight passages
• Asymetrical: Nylon, excellent condition, with snuff sock. Donââ?¬â?¢t know the age, but it really is in great shape with no repairs or wear. We use it a few times each year
• Storm trysail: As new. We carry it aboard, but have fortunately not had any opportunity to use it
• We have a couple other sails we donââ?¬â?¢t keep aboardââ?¬Â¦There is a hank-on 120 I believe and maybe one other. Havenââ?¬â?¢t looked at them in years. They are definitely not new
• Boat also has a mast-mounted spinnaker pole (aluminum, not carbon. Very heavy!). We carried it for a few years, but it is weight aloft and dangerous to deploy, so now it hangs up in the garage at home

• The fuel manifold, lines and filtering system were completely reconfigured in 2022 for ease of access and to clean up space in the engine compartment.

�  �  � Owner maintained through the years. Routine oil and filter changes seasonally (50-75 hours); heat exchanger tube bundle cleaned every 3rd year, routine zinc and impeller changes. Exhaust elbow replaced in 2020.

�  �  � In last 17 years: rebuilt high pressure injection pump, injectors, starter, new oil pressure sending unit, freshwater cooling pump, raw water pump (2x).

�  �  � Fueled from two iron fuel tanks. 80 gallons to port (fully accessible under aft cabin berth, internally cleaned and inspected in 2022 when a sight-tube was added and calibrated, excellent condition) and approximately 50 gallons to starboard (inaccessible behind furniture and bulkheads, no leaks detected), through a tank switching manifold and twin Racor filters to an engine mounted fuel filter. No bad fuel or clogged Racors in 17 years. Always over-wintered with full fuel tanks.

�  �  � Starts and runs flawlessly. Typically add approximately �½ -3/4 qt of oil per season (50-75 hrs). Only known issue is the standard Perkins rear main seal leak, which is approximately �½ pint per 50-75 hours of seasonal operation. Not bad enough to warrant pulling the engine. Built-in fiberglass drip pan beneath engine.

System remains complete, although present operability is unknown. The equipment is part of the sale, but the seller does not plan on making this operational if it is not.

Battery bank was relocated years ago, under previous ownership, from the normal bow area to under the dinette seating area, mid-ship, where the upper port rear water tank would have ordinarily resided, providing better weight distribution and shorter wiring runs to alternator and generator. The batteries live in a custom-fabricated wooden, fiberglass-lined battery box, readily accessible beneath the aft dinette cushion.

Batteries are charged from the Perkins-mounted 125A Balmar alternator, the Lugger generator, and from a Solbian 144W, SP-144L-JB high-power, bimini-mounted (using Velcro ââ?¬Å?hingesââ?¬ï¿½), flexible solar panel (installed in 2019) running through a Victron MPPT.
