Accommodations
The best thing about about a Bristol is sailing one; next best is the luxurious accomodations below deck! Superb nautural light and ventilation with 10 opening ports plus 4 large fixed ports, 4 dorades and 4 hatches. All opening ports and hatches have screens. Excellent artificial light as well, with reading lamps at all berths and settees plus several overhead dome style lamps.

When you step down the companionway into the trunk cabin of this wonderful 41.1 center cockpit, you are confronted with the warmth and richness that fine teak joinery and excellent craftsmanship affords. The salon is elegant, filled with light, ventilation and comfortable furniture. As part of the '05 refit a new straight settee with total storage below, was built in to starboard. This settee was designed to also serve as a superb sea berth. The L shaped settee to port provides ample seating at the dining table and converts to a double berth if needed. The solid teak dropleaf table has an insert in the center to store flatware and beverages. There is abundant locker space for storage behind every cushion and under the settee. The teak and holly sole under foot is thick and beautifully varnished having been refinished in 2005. The salon and the aft stateroom are ducted for air conditioning and heat.

The navigation station is large, with ample room for modern electronic displays and instruments. All circuit breakers on the modern distribution panel are easily accessible.

The in-line galley offers excellent support for the cook in port or underway. There are fiddles around the countertops, a cutting board over the gimballed 3 burner LPG Shipmate stove with oven, which slides out of the way conveniently when using the stove, and a large refrigerator for several days of provisions. There are separate refrigerator and freezer boxes with Grunert holding plates and 12v driven compressor. One side of the galley is dedicated to scullery duty with deep double sinks running hot and cold pressure water. There are also manual pumps for salt water and fresh water.

Walking aft past the galley on the starboard side leads to the master stateroom. This stateroom features a very desirable fore and aft berth arrangement abundant locker storage for personal gear. There is an ensuite head compartment with shower to port. Aside from the lovely accomodation, this room also gives great access to the shaft coupling and conventional stuffing box as well as the engine compartment under the center cockpit.

The forward cabin is a wonderful stateroom for guests or family members. There are opening ports throughout and a large hatch overhead. The vee berth's upholstery is firm, clean and comfortable, even for tall persons.

Sails & Rigging
Aluminum keel stepped single spreader rig with 1X19 stainless steel wire rigging. All of the standing rigging and chain plates were dye checked as part of the '05 re-fit.

Electrical
As part of the '05 overhaul there was a significant upgrading/replacement of the electrical system including new 110 volt panels, isolation transformers, inverter, alternators, batteries and switches, re-wiring of the 12 volt panel and new primary wiring and replacement and upgrading of the bonding system. Also added at that time were LPG sniffers and fire, smoke and CO detectors.

Electronics
The Datamarine instruments are mounted in a teak faced pod over the companionway while all other electronics are located at the Nav Station. The radar/plotter is easily moved from Nav Station to cockpit.

Mechanical
52 hp Westerbeke W-52 diesel turns a 3 blade Michigan "Sailor" propellor on an 1 1/4" stainless steel shaft through a 2.75:1 reduction gear. The engine and running gear were thoroughly gone through in late '05 with the engine compression tested to "as new" specifications. An entire new fuel system has been installed including all hoses, valves and fittings. Dual Racor fuel filters were added with a vacuum gauge and fuel tank gauges were installed.

Complete replacement of the fresh water system '05/'06 including all hoses fittings, hot water heater, pumps, plumbing fixtures, and galley sink. All through hulls overhauled. Above water through hulls replaced with new Marelon, below water seacocks and through hulls are bronze and were re-installed after being overhauled or were replaced as deemed appropriate.

In overhauling the steering gear, the cables were replaced, a new epoxy/Penske board bearing shelf was built for the upper bearing structure and a new Tides Marine bearing was installed; also all the sheaves were inspected. Also overhauled at that time was the centerboard system. The system was modified and improved by re-configuring the arrangement to eliminate all below the water turning sheaves.

Hull & Deck
Solid fiberglass hull with original white gel coat in good condition, blue cove stripe and blue/white/blue boot top. The bottom is painted red in Micron CSC anti fouling. In '05/'06 the bottom was stripped and dried for 5 months (Maine summer inside) 2 coasts of MAS low viscosity epoxy and 3 coats of MAS Flag Epoxy were applied, plus a full International Paint Interprotect System.

On deck: Partially cored fiberglass decks with two tone non-skid (Tan on white). The decks and house top were partially refinished as part of the '05 re-fit. All of the smooth areas outside the cockpit were refinished with two part linear polyurethane. SKYLARK has the optional deep toe rails which were refinished in '05/'06 along with her dorade boxes and grab rails. The new finish is done in long lasting Armada. During the above work the chain plates and genoa tracks were removed and re-bedded with new bolts. Other work including removing all the ports, fixed and opening, re-bedding them, reglazing, replacing, re-gasketing as required.

Large deep center cockpit that comfortably seats six or more. Generous side decks lead fwd. and aft with convenient grab rails, double stainless steel bow and stern rails and double stanchions and lifelines with gates P&S. Beautifully finished (in long lasting Armada) teak accents include the optional deeper toe rail, 4 teak dorade boxes and teak grab rails.

Additional
SKYLARK is no ordinary yacht let alone an ordinary Bristol. Her 2nd owner, the Production Manager for the renowned Hinckley yard in the 1970s, looked at numerous capable sailing yachts before narrowing the search to the Bristol 41.1. Then, based on his extensive building and sailing experience, decided that the optimal layout was a boat with the "inverted V-berth" in the aft cabin with filler. The extensive re-fit she was given after his puchase was directly overseen by him.
