For over a hundred years, fishermen of Nova Scotia have faced moody, stormy seas in their trusty, rugged trawlers. These boats had to be invariably strong, stable, safe and sea friendly. Over time, one hull design evolved that possessed all of the desired characteristics and became the standard for the commercial fleet. That hull design is known as the Cape Island trawler.

The Atkinson Boatyard has been building ''Cape Islanders'' for over three generations, ever since Ephraim Atkinson designed the original way back in 1905. Now Atkinson is building a new, finely finished and supremely comfortable  Cape Island Trawler. A cruising yacht based on the uncompromised original.

This new generation of trawler is offered in a range from 43 to 55 feet and crafted around a hull that is intended for full customization. Just like the original, these boats are broad-beamed, roomy, exceptionally stable and absolutely beautiful.
