Initial Description and Accomodations
Better than new example of the new Leopard 40. This innovative and performance driven Leopard 40 is sure to excite anyone interested in a new owners’ version catamaran in the 40 ft range. Patience in particular is set up for an owner operator with many, many upgrades as well as "all the bits and pieces" that one needs to go sailing!
The Leopard 40, like other Leopard models before her, is a product of South African boat builders Robertson and Caine and includes a unique, modern design thanks to experienced naval architects Simonis and Voogd as well as Robertson and Caine's design team. She resembles her predecessors in speed, agility, and blue-water performance, but her enhancements include an increased volume in the hulls and a design consistent with the rest of the Leopard range currently in production.
The Leopard 40’s interior design is unlike any Leopard before her. Her galley is located forward and the forward-facing settee and table are now located aft. This allows for a panoramic view with large sliding glass doors between the saloon and the aft cockpit. This arrangement promotes easy communication for guests and an open flow between the saloon and the aft cockpit, and a fusion of indoor and outdoor living space. In addition, the galley area includes a large forward-facing window and an access door to the forward platform of the boat. The access door enhances the open concept feel and easy navigation in and around the yacht. It also promotes ventilation throughout the interior.
Like the rest of the Leopard line, the new Leopard 40 includes a light blonde interior with a light, modern and airy feel.
The starboard hull is dedicated to the owners. Aft is a queen berth with storage below and on each side. All the way forward is the separate shower stall with room to shower with a friend! Between are hanging lockers and storage cabinets and more hanging lockers and more storage cabinets…..
Port hull is dedicated to the guests with staterooms fore and aft. Between are storage and hanging lockers as well as the guest head with separate shower stall. Great access is provided to service the air conditioning units in each hull as well as other machinery and wiring.
Foredeck access is either from the wide side decks or through the door from the main salon. The walkway from the door provides the safest and most secure access to the anchor, windlass and associated gear possible. On either side of the walkway and just forward are huge deck lockers with room for all the fenders, lines, spares and supplies a 40’ cat can carry.
Aft deck has a great “U” shaped dinette and table with storage underneath and covered by the expansive hardtop. All exterior cushions custom made in Ft Lauderdale and much more comfortable than originals. Aft section of seating has a “flip” backrest for facing forward or aft. Great for watching the bait or lures skip behind the boat! Steps lead down to the water on both sides. Cockpit shower with hot and cold water on port side. Dinghy davit system lifts the tender well above the water for safe and secure stowage.
Helm station is slightly raised on starboard side and very protected by overhead hardtop. All sailing lines and main halyard are lead to the helm and can be managed by sheet stoppers and the electric, self-tailing winches.
Galley
Galley is along the starboard side with food prep and sink area just forward of the salon table and dinette. Windows all around provide panoramic view in all directions. Aft on the starboard side are the drawer type Vitrifrigo DT series freezer and fridge. Eno (Force 10 and parts available at West Marine) three burner cook-top and oven with broiler are propane supplied by twin 20 lb tanks with remote shut off. RCA microwave oven on counter fits so nicely it looks built in.
