Hoek Design Naval Architects in Holland along with NEDShip has recently announced a stunning new design for a 30.80-metre (101 ft) cruiser racer.  Intended as the first in a series of yachts to be modelled on this prototype, the first yacht is already under construction in high-tech composites.

One of the defining features of the design is that it offers a technically advanced yacht for an exceptional price-quality ratio. The use of a female mould reflects the expected demand for this design. Two distinctive layouts are available that can be built into the same hull using the same deck plug. A charter oriented layout has the crew cabins aft and the owners/guest area forward. The owner's version has a large master suite and guest cabins aft, with separate crew accommodation forward.

This relatively light displacement yacht has been optimised for performance under the IRC rating system and her design is centred on a Mediterranean concept: A large cockpit area and a large deckhouse that offers a ‘room with a view’. Each interior can be completely styled to the client's taste: The owners of the first yacht have opted for a modern look in teak.

On deck is a large cockpit living area with dining possibilities, lounge sofas and twin wheels. Aft is a sunbathing area. A flush foredeck with flush hatches and the stylish deckhouse lines give the yacht a sleek look while still creating a deckhouse living area with a view when seated. The cockpit is covered by a removable bimini. Ample room remains in the aft peak for storage facilities, a dive compressor and the 4.5-metre tender.

The yacht is built in carbon glass epoxy composite construction using Airex foam, glass and carbon laminates and carbon reinforced stringers. The keel fin and rudder are in carbon composites, mast and boom are in high modulous carbon with standing rigging in pbo. Spars are all full carbon. While the first yacht has a T-styled America's Cup fixed keel and spade rudder, future projects could include a lifting keel.
