Introductory Comments
ââ?¬Å?The Bohemianââ?¬ï¿½ has a large galley that is further forward providing extra light, ventilation and headroom. The salon and navigation center are also larger than the standard Tayana 55. Additional custom interior features are two taller hanging lockers, two long built-in lockers, bookshelves and entertainment center in the spacious aft owner's suite. The large walk-in engine room is impressive. Adjacent to the galley is a pantry, wet locker and washer/dryer. Five removable fuel and water tanks were installed in 1995.
The attractive interior woodwork features varnished teak bulkheads and trim in the main salon and sleeping areas. There are white bulkheads with teak trim in the galley and heads. The use of white in the galley and heads make these areas brighter and easy to clean. ââ?¬Å?The Bohemian'sââ?¬ï¿½ cabin sole throughout is varnished teak with contrasting inlay.
In 1998 a 10 KW Northern Lights generator was installed. The VIP guest cabin was remodeled enlarging the double berth and adding more storage. The main and jib were new in 2001 and the hull, deck and spars were repainted. A new hot water heater was installed in 2004 and the decks were re-caulked in 2005. There are two custom gimbaled helm seats aft of the pedestal.
ââ?¬Å?The Bohemianââ?¬ï¿½ has an impressive list of options and equipment. In 1999 ââ?¬Å?The Bohemianââ?¬ï¿½ was totally repainted in Ft. Lauderdale. Her classic dark blue fiberglass hull has 14 opening ports. The deck and cockpit are balsa cored fiberglass with teak planking. Numerous deck hatches provide excellent ventilation and light below. The mast and booms were stripped, primed and repainted in 1999.
AccommodationsForward ââ?¬Å?The Bohemianââ?¬ï¿½ has a generous sail locker accessed through a foredeck hatch. Next aft to port is a guest stateroom with double berth with custom mattress and a large storage compartment and drawers. To starboard is the second guest cabin with upper and lower berths. Next aft to starboard is a large wet locker with washer/dryer on the starboard side followed by a guest head with a wide vanity, stainless steel sink and multiple lockers and drawers.
Aft of the main bulkhead, to port, is a generous U-shaped salon seating area. Adjacent and aft of the salon is the customized navigation center with wide table, L-shaped console above with built-in electronics, bookshelf and electric power center. Wet bar with built in Raritan icemakers positioned between nav center and companionway. To starboard is a gourmet galley with a pantry in the passageway to the owner's suite aft of the galley outboard and engine access door inboard. There is additional engine access through a cockpit hatch and ladder to a work area with bench and ample tool storage on the port side of the main engine.
The size of the owner's aft cabin in the Tayana 55 is comparable to much larger yachts. What makes this an even more desirable cabin is the arrangement designed by the current and original owners. On either side of the centerline queen are two night stands with drawers. Additional built-in furniture includes a settee to starboard and custom raised cabinet with entertainment center, bookshelves and lockers to port. The liveaboard cruisers will especially enjoy the convenience of twin, large lighted hanging lockers with shelves to starboard. There are also many additional lockers and drawers in this cabin. The owner's ensuite head has a separate stall shower. The mattress is handcrafted and custom.
