"Leama" is equipped with a 58’ aluminum mast with a Selden in-mast main controlled from the cockpit or the mast mounted winch. The boom has a boom vang. When running wing & wing, this is used as a preventer to keep the main from jibing while the extendable pole controls the jib or Gennaker. The main & jib (Genoa #1) are both North Sails Boston and maintained by Ullman sails in Buffalo, in good condition. The cruising genneker is yellow & black and hoisted by a halyard and a sock. There are 3 halyards, 2 brand new, and spinnaker pole. The 2 main winches, both self-tailing, a smaller winch for sheets and mast mounted winches (3) have short and long winch handles plus a special handle for the center board system.

A Selden Furlex in mast furling mainsail systems was installed in 2002. The same year a new vertical batten North Mainsail and a North 135 Jib was installed.

The 41’ sloop rig is powered by a 2006 55 HP Westerbeke with less than 1,000 hours use with dual Racor fuel filters that can be switched from one to the other or to either fuel tank while the motor is running (which results in no air in the fuel line). A Westerbeke kit bag with many spare parts is stored under the rear berth. Leama sails at 7+ knots in 15 knots of wind, 8 knots under motor @2,000 RPM driven by a 18� three-blade feathering Maxprop. There are 3 batteries, (2) Exide Nautilus & Delco, one for starting and 2 for house and they can be charged by the Xantrex PRO XM1000 automatic battery charger and the inverter when connected to shore power. In the engine room is a ProTec Pro Marine 1230i PLUS additionally for charging.

The Canvas Dodger and cockpit cushions are in matching red. The dodger covers the instruments and companionway, fitted with varnished wood 2-piece hatch covers and 2-piece wood framed screens when needed; they have a dedicated storage space next to the nav station. In low winds or tied up at the dock, the large white Bimini stored with its frame in the red zippered bag on the foredeck can be easily and quickly raised to cover the entire cockpit. The Bimini has side curtains for a complete cockpit enclosure when cruising inclement weather. Motor sailing on hot days is easy, there are 3 large cushions for the cockpit, with separate back rests, a folding teak table & teak drink holder are included. Behind the cockpit is an aft deck with 2 lazarettes, one for the 2 propane tanks and the other for dock lines, fenders, emergency tiller, cleaning supplies, a 75’ hose, radar reflector and other spare gear. There is a propane BBQ mounted on the stern rail and a charcoal grill. The teak flag staff is mounted on the rear transverse toe rail and the folding swimming ladder has 5 teak steps also on the transom. An extendable 15’ Forespar pole for wing on wing sailing or for the gennaker, a boat hook is stored with it on the foredeck. Safety gear included is: A Lifebuoy system and 2 horseshoe throwables, 8-lifejackets, 2 virtually new, 2-SOS suspender type and 4-harnesses. Ample dock lines (all in the black/red/white color scheme) and 5 black fenders with mesh covers + 3 white fenders plus 2 which are step fenders to use when at the dock. The foredeck includes the power windlass with 2 anchors, a 45# CQR and a Fortress (mounted on the rail), each with 40’ of chain and 150’ of nylon rode. The anchor locker has a partition to keep the 2 rodes separate to avoid tangling of the lines. The electric windlass is an Ideal Windlass Co., from East Greenwich, RI. There are 2 running lights are the bow rail, one on the stern, a foredeck light, anchor and steaming lights on the mast; all meeting safety regulations and standards. There is also a wash pump to rinse off the anchors and foredeck with a new chrome cap on the deck. There are 3 mast shroud covers on each side 6’ tall custom made of Ash with whipped lines. All 9 mooring cleats, a winch, the compass cover, and 2 of the 4 dorade cowlings were re-chromed in 2016 and rebedded when re-installed. The accumulated 30 years of chipped varnish coats on the toe rails and other exterior wood were sanded back to bare wood and revarnished; a few smaller pieces need to be finished.

Four B&G instruments are mounted on the companionway overhead for the helmsperson to easily view. They include; Depth, Speed over ground (SOG, Nav option), Wind (with speed and direction), Speed through the water (knots) and covers for each. Everything is calibrated in in proper working order.

Due to the nature of a center cockpit design, the areas below are voluminous! The 3 cabins are large with plenty of storage areas for long offshore cruising while offering all the comforts of home. Many Bristol 41’s are liveaboards. The large main salon has NO centerboard trunk that would take up space but, boasts a folding teak table with space inside for wine, cooking oil and 2 drawers for silverware. All-New cushions in the salon allow for seating for 8, plus 2 bunks that can be expanded to make doubles. There are 4 large storage spaces under the seats, 4 more behind the seats and open as well as closed eye-height cabinets with woven rattan to allow for ventilation. The galley is on both sides of the companionway to the rear master suite. Inboard are 2 galley sinks with fresh water faucets and raw water pumps to save fresh water and storage underneath. A EPIRB is located above. Outboard is a Shipmate propane gimballed 3 burner stove and oven. There is a Seafrost engine driven fridge and freezer with 2 opening hatches for easy access and is cooled by a separate V-belt run off the engine. Cabinets for kitchen gear are numerous. There is a separate sump for grey water that empties into the bilge when full. Formica counter tops add to eye appeal and serve as a great work surface. The 3 large water tanks, two with water level gauges, are under the salon deck and its ¾ “thick teak & holly sole. If necessary (and legal) the holding tank can be manually emptied by a Whale Gusher pump under the port salon seat. At the nav station there is the Radar, chart plotter, and VHF a stereo/CD system with 2 speakers in the cabin and 2 waterproof speakers under the helm seat in the cockpit. There is ample lighting run under 110V shore power and 12v. The nav station includes an ample “desktop� with storage space and dedicated seat with shelves outboard. All electrical switches are on a Bass Products set of panels that can be opened to reveal a cleanly laid out connections, 100% labeled. There is also a special Xantrex Pro electrical connection for computers. One of the two Garmin Chart plotters is mounted outboard, the other portable unit that plugs in next to the helm station, where the Auto-pilot control is located. The storage space next to the nav station includes 4 large file holders with a separate folder for each piece of equipment on board containing the original manuals, gear on deck, electronics and electric systems, engine, water and all federal documentation, insurance and safety.

The master suite aft has a large transverse king-sized berth (7’ across at the narrowest point) with ample storage, hanging closets, drawers and cubbies. Two separate Dorade vents provide ventilation without bugs or rain water plus a large opening port overhead with screen. The bilge can be accessed for the cabin sole cut out and a large door to the engine room with a large mirror above it. The private en-suite head includes a vanity with mirror, marine toilet, medicine storage cabinet and shower as well as four access points to the engine room. The Whale Gusher manual pump provides back up to empty the bilge which has a new automatic pump. The engine room can be accessed easily fromm 3 sides, the fourth if necessary under the wooden companionway steps. Besides the motor, the space includes the dual Racor fuel filters, battery charger, hot water tank and fresh water system.

The V berth forward has the front hatch and opening port, plus private access to the second head & shower, also accessible from the main salon. Storage is more than ample below the berth, separate hanging closet, drawers underneath and 4 large rattan covered sliding doors to the upper storage area. The anchor locker is in front of this space and is also accessible from the deck.

The foredeck has an aluminum rack to hold the Revere 4-person life raft, completely refurbished in2013. Offseason, there is a custom aluminum framed fully fitted winter storage cover (2015) allowing the boom and mast to stay in place or to be removed if desired. The cover goes all the way to the waterline to protect the hull sides throughout the layup season.

Included also are 8 lifejackets, flares, medical kit, signal systems and flags for dressing ship (hoisting lines are in place). The main salon also has a Weems & Plath brass Clock and Barometer. A bosun’s chair with harness and a lovely older varnished wooden bosun’s chair, million candlepower spot light which plugs into a 12v receptacle, a spare parts bag for the inverter, bolt cutters, hacksaw and custom fitted sheets for the berths.

Continuously maintained by professionals at RCR Yachts Buffalo. Any malfunction has been repaired or equipment replaced as needed, usually an upgrade. All old deck inlets for water, fuel, and waste tanks have been replaced with chromed metal All 9 mooring cleats, a winch and 2 dorades have been re-chromed and misc. hardware re-chromed in 2015, re-bedded and re-installed. In 2016 alone; new jib and main halyards, new reefer condenser, new Garmin radar and chart plotters (2), new chrome plug for shore power inlet, garboard drain installed so it stays dry in the layup season and a good supply of spares and extras.

Very comfortable for family cruising. Each of the 2 cabins offers an en-suite head compartment. She can sleep an additional 2-3 people in the main cabin area. The large forward stateroom features a double V-berth, hanging lockers, dressing seat and plenty of storage. The forward head/shower opens into this stateroom as well as into the main cabin. The main salon has an L-shaped settee that wraps around the center-mounted dining table and pulls out to form a double berth. There is additional storage below, behind and above the berth. The dining table is mounted on the center line immediately aft of the main mast. It has 2 large leaves that create a good size dining table. The beige upholstery, varnished teak, and holly sole give the main salon the warm and cozy feel of a fine yacht interior.
