Here’s how our Buy Wholesale Boats program works:
Finding a Good Deal. We have access to a variety of public and private sources and will search these sources for the specific sportfisher brand and model you want in order to find the best opportunity as it relates to value, condition, included equipment and location. Our experience with these sportfisher brands allows us the advantage of knowing what problems to look for and what questions to ask. We will filter out the undesirable boats in advance to avoid wasting your time.
Protecting Your Interests. Once the right boat is identified, we use our negotiating experience to hammer out the best deal for you. Often times we will be able to identify useful insight and behind-the-scene information that can be used in our negotiation. We will use a proprietary purchase contract that is written to protect you. The contract spells out the term, contingencies, funding and “out” clauses of the purchase. Each of the contingency you direct must be satisfied prior to your final acceptance of the vessel. If the boat does not pass inspection or meet your expectation, you have the right within the terms of the contract to walk away from the deal without penalty.
Identifying a Healthy Boat. We utilize technicians selected from our network of accredited surveyors, mechanics and other marine professionals around the nation to complete a very thorough inspection of the boat. The inspections include (but are not limited to) sea trail, haul-out for bottom inspection, hull survey, mechanical inspection, oil samples and a title search. All aspects of the vessel are cataloged and documented in a report which is distributed to you for review. This report will be helpful for you to have when we go to arrange your insurance, as well as financing (should you want a boat loan). As the buyer, you can choose to participate in all or any part of the inspection process which usually takes a couple days. Similar to buying a house, the inspection costs are paid for by the buyer. These costs are clearly itemized in advance for your review and approval.
We Handle all the Paperwork. Once the boat passes inspection and you have made your final acceptance, there is a substantial amount of paperwork associated with closing the transaction and delivering the boat. As a licensed, bonded and insured yacht brokerage that is regulated by the State of California, Ballast Point Yachts, Inc. will organize and facilitate all the necessary documents required in this process including title transfer, funding, shipping/delivery, insurance and property/sale tax (if applicable). In addition we can arrange financing and an offshore delivery (to avoid sales tax) if desired.
Arranging the Shipping. If your boat needs to ship across the nation to California, or across the ocean to Australia or Europe, we can get it done! Our experience with transporting boats includes both land and ocean freight. Through the years we have secured discounted pricing with a number of licensed and insured carriers to assure we can offer competitive transport costs to our customers. We will negotiate the best shipping option and arrange the needed permits and insurance to transport your boat to the city, state and country of your choice in a safe and timely manner.
Service After the Sale. We can provide any pre-delivery service you may want including detailing, engine service, electronics and general repairs. We can also provide a one-stop commissioning service.
