The Pirogue (pee-rohg) is an old design that was developed to suit the rich culture of the Caribbean people with a long history in the fishing industry, where cost and rough water were major considerations.
The Lapstrake construction process used for over 100 years has been perfected by Calypso Marine Services Limited. Lapstrake construction adds to the torsional stiffness, preventing twist and flex. Master craftsmen, technology proficient and a fully trained skilled workforce are employed.
The Calypso Pirogues consist of 11 layers of hand laid fiberglass, overlapped at the chines and keel. Manufactured with top quality imported materials the Calypso Pirogue is a true blend of beauty, versatility and longevity. 8' deck, center console with built in 185 qrt. Cooler with upholstered seat, two bucket seats, stern seats, windshield, splash well, self-bailing non-skid fiberglass floor, vinyl rub rail, s.s. bow & stern cleats & bumpers, port & starboard navigational lights & stern light, built in fuel tank with s.s. fittings, 2 floor hatches with s.s. hatch pulls.
