A handsome yacht with a swept-back profile and aggressive lines, the Hatteras 48 CMY is an upscale family cruiser with a wide beam and impressive accommodations. Her Hull is balsa-cored from the waterline up and features a deep keel and more transom deadrise than most Hatteras designs of her era. She also has an innovative (and quiet) split exhaust system with side ports for idling and larger underwater outlets for speeds of 1,300 rpm. Below, the galley-down, two-stateroom floorplan includes walkaround berths fore and aft, a full-size convertible dinette, and stall showers in both heads. An optional three-stateroom layout moved the dinette up into the salon while adding the third cabin opposite the galley. The cockpit is far too small for any serious fishing activities, but it is suitable for the line-handling and getting on and off the boat. The aft deck, on the other hand, is large enough for serious entertaining. Additional features include a spacious engine room, bow pulpit, wide sidedecks, an aft-deck hardtop, and plenty of guest seating on the flybridge. With standard 535-hp 6V-92s, the Hatteras 48 Cockpit MY will cruise at a respectable 18 knots and reach 21 knots wide open. |
