Sailing performance adds greatly to comfort at sea.In cruising mode Kai Mana is a gentle, well balanced and a delightful boat that TWO PEOPLE can comfortably sail in near breathless conditions or 40 knots of air. The Quantum Kevlar cruising triradial mainsail only hoists up to the runner hounds (still 45'') and Kai Mana becomes a docile masthead rig.Snug the backstay and tighten the runners to 2.5 metric tons, stow the checkstays and forgetyour worries. If the wind is light to moderate we use the Quantum 141% #1 and if the wind is heavy we use a Sobstad #5...Off the wind hoist the 3A fractional asymmetrical 1.5 oz spinnaker off the tack line (no pole), and jibe the spinnaker like a big headsail. Two people can easily sail the boat in this configuration.
