| -- DESCRIPTION -- |
EPIC is a fantastic example of the famed Westsail 32. She is hull number 181. She has been lovingly cared for by her present owner and prior to that was the yacht of the Westsail owner's group president. She has an aftermarket bow sprint and boomkin and her teak decks have been removed forward of the cockpit.
The Westsail 32 is "the" quintessential cruising boat and considered the epitome of double-ended blue water yachts. The Westsail 32's origins are in Norway, when in the 1800s, naval architect Colin Archer designed safe and seaworthy boats for use in the North Sea.
Later, William Atkins converted the design for pleasure yachts.
You may have heard of one of these yachts in particular: Lehg II was the yacht Vito Dumas circumnavigated in during WWII. Later William Crealock refined the design, and the Westsail 32 was born.
The Westsail 32 is made of 12 layers of roven woving and chopped strand mat, set in polyester resin. The hull is solid and ranges from 1/2 inch to an inch in thickness. |
| Accommodations |
EPIC is a factory finished, dinette version Westsail. Starting forward, her private stateroom offers a full V berth with a large hatch for light and freah air. Going aft to port, she offers a large head with shower, toilette, vanity and sink.
To starboard there is a bureau, with a hanging locker. Aft to starboard, she has a settee with elevated pilot berth. Opposite, she has a comfortable dinette which converts to double berth. Going aft, Epic boasts a large galley area with plenty of counter space. Starboard, she has a proper standing Nav station with chart drawers.
There is also a well thought out wet locker behind the Nav station.
